THIS SUNDAY:
Last week, we started a series about worship, The purpose of the series is to make sure we understand:
What is the meaning and importance of worship in general?
How do we worship?
Why do we gather weekly to worship?
Starting in Psalm 96, we asked the question, "What happens when someone worships?".
We broke it up into three parts and covered the first of three. We will continue this Sunday with evaluation.
Observation: God has made himself observable because he desires to be worshiped. All the Bible is about him gathering together eternal worshippers.
The Psalmist sets God before the reader and describes who he is and what he is doing. Verses 4-6 and 10-13 present to us information about God.
Evaluation: This week we will think about the internal aspect of worship, the evaluation. What value do you give to God when you observe Him and his works?
Expression: How is the evaluation expressed in Psalm 96? Worship is not worship until the internal is expressed. What are those expressions? They are found throughout the Bible as commands.
In Psalm 96 those commands of worship are sing, ascribe, tell, declare, bow down, come in, offer.
Questions & Meditations
Here are two passages to read from the gospels that shine a light on what is happening internally when we worship. As you read through them, think about what is happening internally.
John 4:13-26
Luke 7:36-50
