THIS SUNDAY...
we continue our September series on the family. Recovering the Biblical Family
Our main passage for Sunday - Ephesians 5:22-33
This series will be one of peeling back the layers. We began last Sunday with the big picture, God's Purpose for the Family. This week we will peel back a layer and look closer at marriage. Moving from there, we will remove another layer and look at the two individuals that make the marriage, the husband and wife.
Lord willing, we will begin this Sunday with some general truths about marriage and then begin to shift the focus to the husband.
As your read Ephesians 5:22-33, look for God's glory. How is God to be glorified through marriage, through the commands to husbands, and the commands to wives? Begin to think about how the different commands work together to accomplish God's will in marriage.
SCRAPED KNEES
As we begin to observe the differences in the God-given roles of the husband and wife, we may begin to feel some uncomfortableness. Last Sunday, we likened this to pouring rubbing alcohol on a scraped knee. It hurts, but it is good for you. The truths of scripture should make us feel uncomfortable as it penetrates and cleanses out all the worldly dirt and bacteria that have invaded our minds and understanding.
So if you begin to feel the sting of the truth as it pours over your scraped understanding, remember it is for your good and hold fast. This is repentance, amen.
But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. - 1 Corinthians 11:3

CONSIDER/MEDITATE AS YOU READ
Considering the Ephesians 5, how is God glorified through your marriage?
Men... do you love your wife, honor her as Christ loves the Church, or does your relationship with your wife look more like the world's understanding, not God's.
