THIS SUNDAY- Hebrews 12:1-3
This coming week's advent theme is joy. As we approach the Lord's Day, let us ask the following questions?
CONSIDER/MEDITATE
What is joy?
Is it an emotion, an action, or both?
What is the opposite of joy?
How do we find joy?
What does it look like to rejoice (being joyful)?
How does joy fit with faith and hope?
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. - Romans 15:13
In Hebrews 12, we find Jesus enduring in joy. We also see that he endured in joy so that we can do the same.
ADDITIONAL PASSAGES TO READ
John 15:1-11

Romans 5:1-5
Philippians 4:4-13
(REMINDER) THEMES OF HEBREWS
Christ is better. We will see that Christ is better than angels, Moses, and Israel. He is the better high priest, sacrifice, mediator, and more. This theme will be a major part of Sunday morning sermons, focusing on the superiority of Jesus Christ.
Continuity of the Old and New Testaments. The New Testament is not a redo of the Old but a continuation of the Old. You will see many references to Old Testament passages throughout the book of Hebrews. Often, these references will help you better understand Jesus, the Gospel, and the New Covenant.
Warning passages What is the warning? Don't miss Jesus! Pay attention to His message! Do not neglect Him! Do not be deceived by sin! Hold fast! Strive to enter His rest! Do not grow weary, and many more. The warnings are great because Christ is superior, the Son of God, the only way into the House of God.

SONGS WE ARE LEARNING
BE IN PRAYER
as we celebrate the first and second advent of Jesus Christ, ask the Lord to prepare your hearts. Ask the Lord to show you the beauties of Christ.
In our evenings, we are talking about reformation and revival. Let us prayerfully ask the Lord how we might need reformation and repentance. Let us ask the Lord that he would mercifully bring revival to our congregation.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
