THIS SUNDAY
Hebrews 10:1-22 - The Will, the Offering, and the Witness - Part II
Last Sunday we began to look at the work of the Triune God in sanctifying (setting apart for God) sinners. The purpose of this setting apart is to bring them into the presence of God. We spent most of our time focusing on the will of God the Father, but this week we will move our attention to the work of the Son and the witness of the Holy Spirit.
and by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all -Hebrews 10:10
ADDITIONAL PASSAGES TO READ
Isaiah 6:1-7 (Emphasis on 5-7)
Exodus 34:1-9
Romans 3:21-26
Ezek 36:25-27
CONSIDER/MEDITATE AS YOU READ
Why was an offering needed to sanctify us? Why couldn't God simply will us sanctified?
How does the Spirit play a part in your ongoing sanctification?
(REMINDER) THEMES OF HEBREWS
Christ is better. We will see that Christ is better than angels, Moses, and Israel. He is the better high priest, sacrifice, mediator, and more. This theme will be a major part of Sunday morning sermons, focusing on the superiority of Jesus Christ.
Continuity of the Old and New Testaments. The New Testament is not a redo of the Old but a continuation of the Old. You will see many references to Old Testament passages throughout the book of Hebrews. Often, these references will help you better understand Jesus, the Gospel, and the New Covenant.
Warning passages What is the warning? Don't miss Jesus! Pay attention to His message! Do not neglect Him! Do not be deceived by sin! Hold fast! Strive to enter His rest! Do not grow weary, and many more. The warnings are great because Christ is superior, the Son of God, the only way into the House of God.

Hymn of the Month
BE IN PRAYER
that our church and the churches around us will preach Christ, exalt God, and not make Christianity man-centered.
for the sanctification of the saints of OBC. That we are being cleansed of all unrighteousness and being made more like Christ.
As our men and women continue to gather, pray that both will be honest in fellowship about struggles, hidden sin, and temptations. Give thanks to the Lord for your brothers and sister who care about your soul.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
