Getting Ready for Sunday

THIS SUNDAY 9/29/2021: Matthew 6:5-15

And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you...

Additional Passages to Read / Examples of Prayer

  • Mark 1:35

  • Mark 14:32-42

  • Psalm 44

  • Psalm 51

  • Psalm 57

Consider (Meditate) on the following:

  • Like the previous passage on giving, the first thing we must consider is our motives. Do you want to be heard by man or by God?

  • Consider the above examples of prayer and ask yourself throughout the week, "what is the purpose of prayer?".

  • Meditate over "the Lord's Prayer". Ask the Lord to teach you to pray. "Pray then like this..." (Matthew 6:9-13)
